    Depression and anxiety are on the rise. Ten percent of the American adult population is experiencing a diagnosable form of depression or anxiety and statistics show that only twenty percent of people seek help.
    The fastest growing diagnosable groups are preschoolers whose depression and anxiety rates are growing at an approximate pace of twenty-five percent each year. Preschoolers are also the fastest growing population that is being prescribed antidepressants.
    Most people will experience some form of anxiety or depression in their lifetime. This can be a natural occurrence. What we are speaking of here are the rates of chronic depression and anxiety that require treatment.
    Depression and anxiety can often go hand in hand. Some may even experience anxiety as a particular coping mechanism for depression.
