free graphics resources

I have been using graphics from the web in one format or another for quite a few years now. The number of sites that offer free graphics has steadily grown over this time.

I did a Google search recently using just the words 'free graphics' and it returned 19,800,00 results plus numerous adsense ads. You would think that as there are so many sites, finding free graphics would be very easy. Well let me warn you it's not! The vast majority of sites that show they have free graphics have anything but free graphics. A lot have one or two free samples then expect you to pay for any more you want. Prices range from a few cents each to many many $$ each.

The top site displayed from the google search previously mentioned was for a site that when opened just showed more links to other sites for free graphics. Clicking on the top link in the next site lead to more links to free graphic sites. This really seems to be a problem on the web nowadays. So many links that go nowhere except to other links.

Over the years I have built my own collection of links to 'REAL' free graphic sites. Sites where graphics are really available for free. This doesn't mean that these sites don't also sell images (they have to make a living) but they do give away many many images, totally free . Importantly these sites do not require a link back to their sites when the images are used. If you want to use their graphics for web sites, books, booklets, magazines etc etc then there shouldn't be any problem.

There are of course some restrictions on the various sites, so you should check out their terms. As an example you can't download their images and then resell them on sites similar to theirs.The first site that I am going to tell you about is www.freegraphicscentre.com. The reason for this is because it really does have thousands of graphics, photos, logos, etc which can be downloaded at the right click of your mouse button. Terms of use are easy to follow and permission is given to use the images in any way you see fit, except for the example about resale shown above.
