Ink Cartridges are a component of an ink jet printer. These cartridges contain ink which gets spread on paper during printing. After printing a large number of pages, ink inside the cartridge get exhausted and these cartridges require being replaced with new cartridges filled with printer ink. As ink jet printers are quite inexpensive and give reasonably good results, their popularity as a printer attached with computers has increased. As a result, requirements of ink cartridges to be used in these printers has increased manifold. While purchasing these ink cartridges, we have the option of buying these cartridges from the manufacturers of these printers or buy ink cartridges from other 3rd party vendors. It is also possible to get these cartridges refilled. Most of the manufacturers of these printers sell them at very competitive rates. By selling these printers only, they earn very little money or even make losses. To make up these losses, they generally sell the replacement ink cartridges at premium rates. Price of an ink cartridge sold by them would seem very costly compared to the price at which they sell their printers. In support of the high cost of their ink cartridges, printer manufacturers claim that they use premium quality ink in their cartridges and they produce better quality prints. Therefore, most of the people who use these printers generally buy these cartridges from 3rd party vendors or get these cartridges refilled with printer ink. This comes out to be much cheaper. Because of the large demand for such cartridges, a large number of such vendors are now available. Even courts have given ruling that such activity does not infringe on Copyrights Act. Similar scenario exists for laser/toner cartridges used in laser printers. It is a fact that these third party cartridges are quite cheap. But, it is difficult to ascertain the quality of ink used in those cartridges. One way of ensuring this is to contact an already established vendor who also gives guarantee for the products sold by them. Sometimes, it may become difficult to locate a suitable supplier for Ink cartridges for your printer if the model of your printer is new in the market or a very old model or not very popular. Like many other items, because of the popularity of internet, you could search for a supplier for these cartridges on the internet. While dealing with a supplier of these cartridges whose product you haven't used before, you may ask a few questions to them. Generally, reputable vendors who advertise their products on the internet, generally provide details about the manufacturers of ink used in their cartridges along with their contact details. While purchasing refilled cartridges, you should see to it that the suppliers are thoroughly inspecting these cartridges before refilling. They should also check for cracks and the electrical condition of these cartridges before they are refilled.
