Stacie Bass, the inventor of sexy flip flops with original jewelry, is rallying all of Southern California's flip flop wearers to donate their old flip flops and sandals. Now, we know that L.A. and the surrounding areas are teeming with flip-floppers! With summer coming around, many of you are stocking up on hot new designer flip flops. They're probably of little value to you after last summer's wear and tear, and more than likely, you're going to chuck them into the trash, right? Before you do that, Stacie Bass and company would like to encourage you to help create something good out of something so seemingly insignificant as an old, worn out pair of flip flops. Now you can put your old flip flops to good use by participating in Stacie Bass' "Going Green, Care to Share?" project which begins in April. Each month, Stacie Bass and company will announce a new West Coast drop-off location when you can bring your old rubber flip flops and sandals to be recycled. Every 10 lbs of rubber received will generate $100 to be donated to a local charity that provides aid to homeless in the area. The first drop-off bins will be located in Hollywood. "Living where we do, we constantly witness the growing gap between the outrageously affluent and the families who don't even know where they'll get their next meal. By recycling, we're minimizing waste on two very important fronts," says Connor Raimondi, President of Stacie Bass' designer flip flops. "All of us here at Stacie Bass are big green supporters and feel it's important for retailers to contribute both to the planet and people in need." So this spring when you're cleaning out your closet, help create something out of nothing by gathering all of your worn out flip flops, which would probably end up in the garbage otherwise, and bringing them to a drop-off bin for recycling.
