All this may not have been possible had it not been for the invention of the desktop personal computer. The desktop personal computer or the desktop PC as it is commonly called has made it possible for individuals to take advantage of the amazing computing skills and other abilities of the computer, while at home or the office. The Early Computers Computers have become so commonplace and so varied in form that it becomes difficult to explain what exactly a computer is. As if this was not sufficient, the modern day computers are many times more capable of computing at a fast rate as compared to their predecessors. Today’s personal computers have become the hallmark of the information and technology age. The desktop personal computers have made computer literates of millions of individuals who would have, otherwise, been denied access to this technology. Personal Computer Desktop Pc’s have become immensely popular as they give all the advantages of a computer at a fraction of the cost of their predecessors. Mass production has brought down the cost of the desktop personal computers. Their immense computing abilities have been another factor in their growing popularity. Computers can handle such a vast amount of data that an entire roomful of papers might not be equal to the storage capacity of one good sized desktop PC. Functioning The functioning of a desktop PC is not very difficult to comprehend. It is made of several different modules. The best point is that one can easily rearrange and replace any one or more of these modules. Besides this these modules can also be interchanged or if required then combined with each other. This translates into the fact that someone with a mere rudimentary knowledge of computer hardware can easily modify a desktop personal computer.
