Brilliant inventor Nikola Tesla had an Electric Pierce Arrow in 1930, he replaced the Interal Combustion Engine (ICE) with an electric motor. Here is the story : In 1930, Nikola Tesla asked that his nephew, Petar Savo, who was born in Yugoslavia in 1899, come to New York. Petar was 43 years younger than his uncle. Up to that time he was living under stringent conditions in Yugoslavia, which was also where Tesla was born. In 1931, Tesla took his nephew to Buffalo to show him and have him test a new automobile. Tesla had developed it with his own personal funds.
The car was a Pierce Arrow, a Lincoln Town Car if you want to compare it to something of today. The engine had been removedwithout touching the clutch, gearbox or transmission. The gasoline engine had been taken out and replaced with a round, completely enclosed electric motor with a cooling fan in front.
There was also an energy receiver which was installed in front of the dash board. A big heavy antenna protruded from the converter. Furthermore, two thick rods emanated from the converter housing.
Tesla pushed the rods and announced "Now we have power." The motor achieved a maximum of 1800rpm. Tesla noted it was fairly hot when in use, and therefore a cooling fan was required. For the rest there was sufficientpower in the converter tolight up an entire house while powering the vehicle’s engine. Testing went on for about a week, attaining a top speed of 90 miles per hour effortlessly. Its test results were at least as good if not better than any. At a stop sign, a pedestrian remarked that no exhaust gasses were emanating from the exhaust pipe. Petar answered "We have no motor." The Arrow stored on a farm, maybe twenty miles outside of Buffalo, not far from Niagara Falls.
Because of the economic crisis at the time, Pierce Arrow ceased production.
And now you know the truth of how we got to be in the sad state of affairs we are in or at least you know that it was possible to prevent it as far back as 1930.
