This sweet bread is made up of a combination of mashed bananas and baking soda. This ingredient helps act as a leavening agent bread and also makes the bread rise. You can add additional ingredients to your liking such as nuts and raisins as this is a very simple, uncomplicated recipe that doesn't even require an electronic beater. Banana bread was popularized in mid 1900's when baking soda was also popularized. In some Asian countries, banana bread is a regular food and can also be served as an alternative to white bread. Here Is The Magic Bread Recipe. This is exceptionally easy to make, what you'll need is: 1 cup butter for shortening 5 over-ripe bananas, mashed well. Sugar - 2 1/2 cups. Four eggs. About three quarters of a cup of buttermilk. 3 cups flour. 1 and 1/2 teaspoons of baking soda. About a half a teaspoon of salt. A cup of chopped up nuts if required. Vanilla - 1 and 1/2 teaspoons. For this banana bread recipe, combine shortening, bananas and sugar. Slowly add eggs, one at a time and beat well. Sift baking soda, flour and salt together. Alternately add the other dry ingredients along with the buttermilk to the batter mixture. Add the vanilla and nuts and mix the banana bread recipe mixture well. Get a hold of 2 loaf pans that are well greased and add the mixture into both leaving about an inch from the top to allow the mixture to rise a little. Put the mixture in the oven for about 80 minutes on 325 degrees and test with a toothpick to see if it comes out of the bread clean when you think it is ready. Banana bread is also a nutritious alternative to white bread and can also be made with wheat bread or whole grain. There are many variations to the traditional banana bread but the more effective banana bread recipe calls for overripe bananas. Don't forget that if you do not use over-ripe bananas the top of the cake (loaf) can tend to remain a little moist.
