Stop Doing Yoga NOW!

"Yoga can kill? Are you kidding me?" That is a response I get, being a Yoga teacher for nearly 10 years, whenever I tell my students the statement as in the title of this article!

Yoga seems to become the solutions for modern-day problems. Yes, it is true that your hairdresser, your next door neighbour, the girl next door or even the desperate housewife lives across your house are all doing Yoga

A yoga exercise is seen as a way to soothe nerves that are in a constant state of hyperactive. It is believed that Yoga can help one live a very fulfilled lifestyle.

Of course all the above can be true, only if you know exactly what Yoga is

It is true that when you practise Yoga, make sure you do it the correct way, otherwise the consequence can be fatal. Correct way of doing Yoga energises you and makes you look fresh. The wrong way could cause your blood pressure to rise

Some teachers believe "no pain no gain" and try to "brainwash" their students to believe that the no-pain-no-gain saying, and it is crazy! A lot of Yoga gurus are going to tell you that the reason for you to feel pains you need to practise more? As a matter of fact if anybody who really understands the gist of Yoga, will tell you that there is no such thing as “no pain no gain”. The true essence of Yoga is about reunion with God. That is the realmeaning of Yoga whether you want to make it spiritual or not.

When you feel pain or hurt anytime during your Yoga lesson, you must stop!. Try not rush into things as you could just pick up warm-up exercises..The whole point of doing Yoga is to be healthy, thus, it is silly to hurt yourself becuase of Yoga.

It is even more risky to you if you experience illness like insomnia, neck pain, or during your menstruating period. While you are having babies, use caution when you try to do full boat Yoga pose. This Yoga pose requires you to be able to balance on the tripod of your sitting bones and tailbone.

If you suffer from the neck injury, try to stay away from bridge pose for now. Bridge position although calms the brains and rejuvenates tired legs, it requires you to lie on the back of your head on the floor with your chest bending upwards and hence giving a lot of strains on your neck!

When you have the knee injury, be take careful precautions while doing head-to-knee forward bend because you are required to bend your knees while bending forward with your head touching on of your ankles...

Remember ok, if you feel pain at your knees, it is time to stop immediately and speak to your teacher.

Please stay away from downward-facing-dog Yoga pose, when you are in the late stages of pregnancy. Use cautions doing this position when you experience high blood pressure! The pose requires you to come onto the floor on your hands and knees while setting your knees directly underneath your hips and your hands slightly forward of your shoulders. Moreover you need to Spread your palms, index fingers parallel or slightly turned out, and turn your toes under.

Can you feel how this can be harmful to you and your conceived babies if you are not taught the right ways?

I would advise my students who suffer from high-blood pressure to seek advice from their medical doctors before doing Yoga. If you raise your arms above your head it actually makes you feel dizzy!

There are many other pitfalls that I can keep telling you, but the point is Yoga can be dangerousThere is no doubt about it! As we try to survive between modern life and our animal instincts, we human race are desperate to find balance in our daily lives, and also in our bodies, our minds and our environment.

In these modern society, out brain is constantly working, thinking without any rest. Just as what we established, a yoga practice is a fastastic way to soothe nerves that are in a constant state of panics.

While a lot of us suffer from the fatigue and imbalance that comes from chronic stress without sufficient recovery, we all must pick upYoga!

Yoga help relieve your stress only after you appreciate both the dangerous and beneficial sides of Yoga!
