Make Sure You Exfoliate Before You Tan Indoors

By: Betty P Davis

Don't underestimate how powerful exfoliating is when it comes to indoor tanning. This process doesn't take very much effort, but it will significantly impact the results you get from it. If you want a healthy looking glow for the summer or all year long, you need to go about it in the right way. Taking good care of your skin is the best place to start.

The UV rays that are outdoors are similar to what you will find in a tanning salon. They work the same way so you want your skin to be ready for them. If you don't exfoliate then you will end up with skin that is very dry. This means your color won't go as deep into the skin as it could. That means it will take you much longer to develop the base tan color you seek.

It is important to have a very good soap that you use to exfoliate with as well. If it doesn't contain quality ingredients then you won't get wonderful results. You want to avoid those that have fragrances with them. While they will smell nice they are also going to dry out your skin. This is the opposite effect of what you should be aiming for.

It is better to use liquid soap than it is to use a bar of soap though. Make sure you have the right equipment to exfoliate your skin properly. This can be a wash rag or a loofa, which ever one you prefer. You need to make sure it is clean though so you aren't spreading germs and bacteria to your skin.

After you have washed your body, make sure you rinse it a few more times. You need to make sure every bit of the soap has been removed. What you leave behind can create a film and prevent the tanning process from really penetrating your skin. If you rinse all of the soap from your body though the UV rays can really get to your healthy skin.

Pay attention to how you dry off your body as well. If you are one who quickly towels off from head to toe then you need to slow down. Pat your body dry instead of the rigorous workout. That way your skin gets the quality treatment it deserves. Make sure you drink water throughout the day so your skin will glow when you exfoliate it.

Generously apply a good lotion with moisturizers in it to you skin. This will help to lock in the moisture after you have exfoliated. It will allow you to keep the benefits of it longer. You will definitely notice the different results you get when you use indoor tanning products and equipment.

If you plan to get a great indoor tan, then you need to make sure you exfoliate your skin properly. If you don't exfoliate then you can't benefit from the results you wanted to have. This one simple process can make the difference between getting a decent tan from the salon and one that is okay but you aren't impressed with.
