Ignatius Piazza Pushes Pittsburgh Teachers to Look Further For Solution

By: Jayden Adams

Ignatius Piazza, founder and director of the nation's largest, most successful shooting school, Front Sight Firearms Training Institute, recently applauded the training which the teachers and staff of schools in the Allegheny county of Pennsylvania received recently. The school district hired Sam Rosenburg, a former marine and bodyguard who operates his own business training professionals in self-defense and other 'interpersonal aggression' to train teachers in proper self defense and disarming techniques.

The school district which received Ignatius Piazza's attentions sent its teachers to Mr. Rosenburg to receive self defense training which could better prepare them in the event of a school shooting. School shootings are obviously on every American's mind. So it appears that the school district near Pittsburgh is getting its teachers ready in the event that any intervention is necessary should such a dreadful day come.

Ignatius Piazza and Front Sight are certainly no strangers to self defense training. At Front Sight, though firearms training is typically the name of the game, armed and unarmed self defense training is also available to students. The self defense training covers not only aspects of hand-to-hand defense, but also – like Mr. Rosenburg's training – covers hand-to-weapon defense, which trains against an assailant armed with a knife, club or firearm.

It stands to reason that Ignatius Piazza is in full agreement with the Pittsburgh school district's decision to train its teachers in unarmed self defense. According to a news article in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Mr. Rosenburg has these things to say about school shooters: "50 percent of the time [a shooter's] behavior before the shooting has caught the attention of school officials. … More than 50 percent of school shootings have been brought to a close by either teachers, other students or another school staff member such as a custodian."

Ignatius Piazza and Front Sight would agree with the validity of those numbers and say that because of the fact that such a high percentage of school shooting attempts are ended by teachers, and such a high percentage have an opportunity to notice the signs leading to a shooting, that school districts should go further than simply getting unarmed self defense for their teachers. Ignatius Piazza knows that self defense training is extremely valuable and keeps individuals alive, and he would argue that the only self defense training that will keep students safe is firearms training.

Ignatius Piazza is of the opinion that firearms training for our teachers will keep school shootings down to zero and will keep everyone on school grounds completely safe. Obviously not only would he deliver firearms training, he would expect the teachers to go on to get concealed carry permits and carry concealed weapons on their persons.

Ignatius Piazza and Front Sight point out that schools are going so far as to get their teachers unarmed self defense training - which is an excellent idea. Though what is truly needed in America is training and arming the teachers, thus keeping all of the school and students safe from school shootings. Don't waste time and money with searches, metal detectors and security guards. We've already got extremely responsible, extremely professional men and women who can keep our children 100% safe with just a little bit of training.
