You can dispense with a car mover because moving your vehicle requires only time and patience to do research and hard work for a month or so before you ship.

Next you will need to find the transport method that suits you best. The cheapest option will probably be to have someone drive the car for you. But if you don't want the enroute risks associated with that, the other option is putting the car on a truck or in a container and using a depot to depot service, or a door to door service. The second is more expensive, naturally.

Your carrier might use a specialized vehicle or take spare space on a standard truck, if you elect to move your car on another vehicle. And then there are further alternatives such as open deck or inside a van, a purpose-built box or an adapted shipping container. There are many different choices available.

Pick who will do the move

This is the time to select a carrier and you will probably have many alternatives. Ask for references and talk with people who have moved cars with your choice. Make sure you study the insurance details with a careful eye. Spending time now will be well worth it in the long run.

There are a couple of things you'll want to do when you get near the move. Put notes on the dash giving your contact details, for example. Clean the car on the inside so the people moving it will will tend to be careful. Take out anything that might be stolen, and leave very little gas in the car. Children's toys, maps, things that you just keep in the car -- remove them all. This is how you get your car prepared for the move.

Finally, be clear what the driver or the carrier expects from you when he picks up. A small (but important) thing, like when will he collect it? And the same at the other end. When, and how much money will you be giving him? Will there be papers to give or receive? Being clear on these details make the car moving straightforward.
