This is usually dependent on the number of people that are expected to attend and the way in which you expect them to get to the event. If you are planning to have people fly in from all over the world then it is vital that you have your conference within easy access of an international airport. If you plan to invite thousands of people from London then it would be wise to choose a venue that is close to a London underground station. You really need to consider the travel arrangements for your guests as this is the single most damaging thing for your event. If your delegates have not slept well and have had a hard time getting to the venue then it is likely to affect their experience of the conference for the worse.
