It's kind of funny at what speed some technology areas are rapidly just zooming past us. It's not unusual that a handheld pc is considered old after six months and being replaced by some other more powerful and feature rich model. If you consider how far technology has come for iPAQ Pocket PCs, then you will be even more amazed. At the time it was the newest, hottest gadget to own, yet by today's standards it is so archaic that you can only use it for a paper weight. The HP200Lx with its QWERTY keyboard was an important step in the PDA evolution. Now many people could recognise the layout from a standard pc, which made it much easier for users of the device. The newest iPAQ Pocket PCs that were produced by Compaq are now manufactured by Hewlett Packard. What does all of this mean? It actually will not have a huge impact on your life. The previous lines of Compaq are still in existence, even if they are completely underpowered by today's standard. In fact, as of February 2007, the new HP iPAQ Pocket PC H5550 series of Smartphones were unveiled, which combined a mixture of cellular technology with that of Pocket PCs. For pocket pc lovers, this is a huge bonus. This will be in direct competition with Apple's iPhone. The iPhone has been enjoying record sales even at its steep price tag of $399. The iPAQ 500 series will not come cheap either. You can expect this phone to retail in the same price range and offer some of the same great features of the iPAQ line, such as an XScale processor and quite a bit of RAM. Do not panic and worry about not being able to understand the technology that pushes these little marvels. It can be confusing at times and there are plenty of handheld PCs for every person's needs. If the iPAQ does not seem to be fitting your needs, then you can always turn to rival manufacturers, such as Palm for the PalmOs or you can turn to RIM's Blackberry. Always remeber, there are plenty of options available to meet your lifestyle. The Pocket PC you need is out there for sure. Just keep in mind that technology is constantly changing and that your high end model you purchase today may be outdated within a year
