Getting Hooked with Dodge Parts

By: Anthony Fontanelle

As early as 1914, Dodge has already been producing cars. It had made cars for Ford and later with Chrysler. It started as a small scale automobile making company, from its root company Dodge Brothers Bicycle and Machine Factory. During its early years, it has also catered to many car manufacturers and has made car parts for them. One car manufacturer that has benefited from the services of Dodge was the Oldsmobile. Today, Dodge is focused on the production of trucks and sedans and exclusive Dodge parts. The involvement of Dodge in other automotive companies has greatly helped in realizing the virtues they proudly proclaim: Innovation and Leadership.

Dodge parts can be subdivided into two groups. One is the mechanical and the other is the body parts. Mechanical parts are devices that are used in engines, suspension, ignition, steering, transmission and other mechanical aspects of the vehicle. In this category, accessories like the fan shroud are included. The other category of Dodge parts involves ornamental accessories, upgrading devices and the different metal panels that make up the vehicle. These two classifications can greatly help you in knowing your particular need of replacement parts. In cases that breakdown in auto parts is experienced, you will only need to check whether it is a mechanical or a body part.

Another fact about Dodge parts is that they wear or break in time. There are parts that are considered as consumables. Consumable parts are those that easily wear due to the vehicle’s daily operation. One example of a car consumable part is the tire. The tire is expected to be replaced every after certain distance traveled by the car. Tire replacement can also be effectively determined by checking the thickness of the tire thread. Other examples of consumable parts are the brake pads, time belts and clutch pads. These too wear out easily with constant use.

Mechanical parts are somehow the most difficult to maintain and replaced particularly the integral parts of the engine. Though they do not wear as fast as those consumables, they must be inspected in a regular basis to expect a hundred percent performance from the vehicle.
