Front Sight Firearms Training Institute began in 1996. Dr. Ignatius Piazza started Front Sight because he wanted to teach others how to safely and effectively defend themselves when in a vulnerable situation. Dr. Ignatius Piazza had spent the previous years seeking out the best firearms training professionals that the world had to offer and learning from them. When Front Sight opened, the very first class was a two-day defensive handgun training course. Dr. Ignatius Piazza was the only instructor and he only had ten students. This course was taught on leased land in California. Today, Front Sight has grown to such proportions that tens of thousands of men, women, and even children come from all over the county to take part in what they call the “Front Sight Experience.” Front Sight offers handgun training, rifle training, shotgun training, even sub-machine gun training. But firearms training is not the only thing offered. Front Sight Firearms Training Institute currently offers courses not associated with handguns. They offer defensive-driving training courses, rappelling training courses, and even martial arts training courses. Front Sight’s Martial Arts Training course teaches a student that his body and mind is his best weapon. Front Sight sets itself higher than any other martial arts training programs in many areas. Not only is the information in the class presented by the highest qualified and experienced instructors, but also the techniques taught in the class are real-world self-defense techniques. Front Sight teaches techniques that a person can use in his everyday life. The martial arts training program at Front Sight Resort is made up of six training levels. With each level, the skill and intensity increases. These six levels are taught over a period of weekends. The course is set up so that a student is allowed to learn at his own pace. Therefore, if a student learns a little slower than someone else in the class, the slower student is not forced to pass on to the next level without being ready. At the same time, the quicker student is not forced to remain at a level that he has already mastered. Instead that quicker student can move on to a more challenging level. During the course of the training program, students learn techniques that have proven to save lives. Some techniques include how to fall, how to evade an attacker, how to fight and escape from the ground, and how to perform an effective standing chokehold. The course also teaches how to defend against weapons such as sticks, knives and other blunt or edged weapons. The amount of information a person gains and the techniques while in the martial arts training class is immeasurable. Front Sight Firearms Training Institute not only prides itself in the information taught but also in the manner in which it is taught. The instruction is the best that can be obtained and is taught by the best instructors available. Front Sight martial arts instructors have taught law enforcement, military personnel and private citizens how to effectively defend themselves while using martial arts and hand-to-hand combat. Some instructors have even participated in cage fighting; obviously they are experienced. Whether a person is seeking information on how to effectively evade an attack or how to defend oneself from an armed attacker, Front Sight is the place to find that training. The instruction, instructors and the self-paced course allows the student to get the most out of his time at Front Sight.
