Copy Favorite Protected DVD Films To Protect Them

By: Isaiah Henry

My family is DVD movie maniacs. When a new DVD is released, we often purchase it because this saves us a lot of money in comparison to buying movie tickets for the whole family. Our collection is pretty large and it includes many genres. Of course, there are movies we rarely watch and movies we play all the time. As you guess, the DVDs from the second group soon get scratched because of the permanent use. Polishers and cleaners do help but inevitably comes the moment when our favorite disks are not usable anymore. And the worst is that at such times usually the DVD is already out of print and we cant get a spare copy. Because of this the only solution is to make the copy ourselves.

There are many families like ours with huge collections of favorite DVDs, which become scratched and useless. Quick fixes like cleaners and polishers can help but they do not solve the problem. Purchasing multiple copies of the same DVD is too costly. But what about Nero? Have you heard about it?

It is very unpleasant that you have to break the protection codes of DVDs if you want to make a copy of it. But it is quite logical that there will be protection codes. It cant be the other way, when so many people are making tons of pirated copies and this hurts recording studios. Of course, recording studios will take the measures to protect themselves!

But, as long as making a duplicate is for personal use only, consumers should have the means to create a backup of any and every movie on the entertainment shelf. Fortunately, the programmers, that have been hired to protect the companies' movie discs, have equally talented counterparts. Thus, several good software solutions have been developed to crack the codes, so the data can be transferred from the DVD to a computer's hard drive.

If you have no idea of the DVD copying process, you might think that all you have to do is copy the contents of the DVD to a blank media. Well, this is not exactly so. You cant just copy the data you need to compress it first. If you dont compress it, it will not fit on the backup disk.

Fortunately, when users copy all DVD using Nero, the headaches and discouragements are a thing of the past. With one click, people can follow the directions one step at a time, click when required, and have a usable copy like the original. Now, do not worry if a favorite video is no longer on the market. Enjoy watching it for the umpteenth time, and know a good duplicate is waiting, when the time comes for a replacement.

While the process to copy protected DVD movie may seem like a pain in the neck, the alternative is eventually saying goodbye to that favorite flick; you could watch several times a year and never get tired of the story. Like any new thing learned, the steps necessary to make a great duplicate will get easier, and you will be glad to have made the effort.
