Backyard Bird Watching If you love to watch the frolicking, fanciful nature and fluttering of birds, you probably already know that watching birds in your own backyard can truly be amazing. It's remarkable just how many bird species you can see. If you don't think there are many birds in your backyard, there are a couple of things that you can try to attract them. With different kinds of bird feeders, a couple of great bird houses and bird baths, it won't be too long before you've got some special visitors. A bird bath is a wonderful thing to have in your yard if you are looking more birds to visit. They love to splash in the water, and as long as it's clean, that's even better. You can choose from more conventional bird baths, or you might get something a little different, like a solar powered fountain. Bird baths with moving water will be attractive to wild birds that normally would not come to your standard fountain, including warblers, thrushes, robins and humming birds. Birds especially love moving water, and it will attract them easily. Bird baths also look amazing in your garden. There are some people that love bird baths because they make birds come closer than they normally would. This is a wonderful chance to take some great looking photographs, and just enjoy the birds' company. If you decide to add a birdhouse to your backyard, there is a real potential for birds to make their home in it. They will not only visit the birdhouse on occasion, but if it feels warm and snug, they may decide to make it the spot to lay and hatch their eggs. This would be a real treat because you could get to sneak a peek at the baby birds every now and then, or when it is time for them to begin flying. Not only is a birdhouse a delightful yard decoration, but it is a place the birds will adore too. There are naturally different shapes, sizes and types of birdhouses, and what you decide on had everything to do with individual preferences. You'll find many bird feeders out there, and many of them are going to fall into one of three different categories. There are tray feeders, tube feeders, and hoppers. Tube bird feeders are cylindrical, with a landing place at the opening where the feed is accessed. Tube feeders are good for a variety of seeds, as long as the hole is wide enough for the seed to come through. Hopper feeders are more attractive to birds that are wary about tube or tray feeders. For birds that are smaller, tray feeders are wonderful. If it isn't important what kind of birds come to your backyard, and you want to enjoy and appreciate whatever kind of visitor shows up, you can buy a general bird seed. A lot of bird seed can appeal to several different varieties of birds, because it's got many kinds of seed. If you desire a specific bird species to visit your yard, then you need to include a seed or food that is appealing to that specific species. Adding these three things will easily help to make your backyard a little more attractive to birds. A few other wonderful things you can add are sweet-scented flowers, and openings and crevices so the birds can hide. If they feel safe in your backyard, they're going to stick around longer.
