Art auctions for drawings can be classified as antique, modern or contemporary. Modern drawings are those that have been created between 1900 and 1949. While antique drawings are those drawings that were drawn before 1900. Contemporary drawings are those that were made from 1950 until now. For Contemporary drawing, a lot of them have been listed in art auctions that never get a bidder until now. Them main reason for this is that the starting bid is set so high that no one one would ever care to buy it. One time there was this art auction for a drawing that was made in year 2000 that showed James Dean greeting Elvis Presley upon heaven. The starting price for this piece was twelve million dollars and not surprising it did not get a bidder. There was this another art auction, a pen and ink drawing that was set at a very high price compared to its real worth. The original price started at $825,000.00 and upon knowing noone bought it, the artist lowered the price down to $545,000.00. He offers the copyright to the design, which he thinks would translate well for prints, posters or greeting cards. An art auction for a drawing that was purchased in 1971 at London did very well. The seller of the drawing got it from his grandfather, who was the original owner. The son started the bidding at a reasonable list of $599.00 and the drawing ultimately sold in the art auction for over twelve thousand dollars. He made a nice job convincing and explaining the drawing to the buyers. Antique drawings aside from other types of art auctions, can attract a lot of interest. There was this drawing of two men in nude that was drawn during the 1800s that listed for more over eleven thousand dollars. The drawing was made from pen and ink and had a brown washing and the pencil lines was made obviously made from charcoal. One of the most touching antique drawing was made by Sir Francis Grant in 1832. The drawing portrayed a woman and her daughter in Scotland. The drawing was labeled as an original and sold for two thousand dollars. Someday it should be decorated in some homes today framed and hanging in their collection. Drawings like these are really good. One of the reason why art auctions for drawings dont sell that much is that they are listed in the wrong categories. Some several contemporary pieces were listed in the antique category and other categories. With so much competition in art auctions, it is important buyers really get what they want for their details. Modern drawings are the best art auctions for most people. There was this person who wanted the stamped Degas he saw up for auction, but it was way out of his budget. We're pretty sure that the person who can afford it will take care of it forever. Famous artists drawings can make a lot of money in online art auctions especially if the title of the art auction contains the word Picasso, for example it is sure to go over two thousand dollars. If it is signed, maybe it can go for much more. A drawing was found in an art auction from an unfamiliar artist. The artist was Patrick Caulfield. He titled his drawing Grapes. He used colored pencils on black paper upon nearing the 90's. This drawing sold for at a starting bid of $4,250.00.
