Anxiety Ridden? Say No to Stress in Your Life!

By: Harold Ulvaeus

Without attention, stress can easily overwhelm and take control of a person. Stress unchecked, can make for an anxious future, unless you take back control and actively work to reduce the stress load.

There is a large variety of issues that can cause stress. It is a very perceptual thing. What causes stress for one person does not necessarily cause stress for another person. one universal stressor is finances. Being in debt, or feeling anxious about money is very common.

The best way to prevent financial stress is, obviously, to prevent going into debt. For many, it is too late for that and their debt, along with their anxiety, is mounting. Set up a budget outlining your essential expenses along with setting up an emergency fund.

Sticking to that budget will by itself cause a reduction in stress, and you'll be able to start paying off your debt without feeling so overwhelmed.

Working too much can also cause a lot of stress. Spending too much time at work can make both you and your family suffer.

You can easily avoid that by learning to balance your work life with your home life. Your mind has to be with your job, but only while you're working. When you leave your job for the day, leave work where it belongs - at work. Your mind needs to be with your family when you get home.

Learn how to say no. Agreeing to everyone that needs your help can leave you depleted and stressed. Helping others is an honorable thing to do, but don't do it to your own detriment.

Saying no sometimes is OK. Don't overextend yourself by being the person everyone comes to when they need something. You will be exhausted and overwhelmed and have less to give.

Trying to tackle too many problems at one time can also cause a lot of stress. You're a human being, not a robot. No one can handle that many problems at once, so tackle one at a time. Your brain can take in a lot of information, but it can overload as well, so do it a favor and try to solve only one problem at a time.

There is a myriad of things that causes stress. Take inventory of your life and discover where your stress is coming from. Then take decisive action to reduce that stress. You may have to change some habits, you may even have to change how you perceive things. reducing your level of stress should take first place of the order of importance.
