It has become a bit of a hobby of mine to find disinformation on the internet and prove it false. In the area of Online solutions for increasing your MPG I have discovered a treasure chest of bogus information. In previous articles, I have, dispelled the value of false solutions such as unjunking your trunk, driving with your a/c on, driving with your a/c off, ensuring your tires at optimum pressure… in some examples the well intentioned but false recommendation was proven positively wrong . In other examples, the solution was sound but the benefit was so slim as to not be worth the trouble. Like the “unjunk your trunk” was debunked when I did the math and found out that it would save theaverage driver about $50 per year! Ok, well here goes another false suggestion It has been asserted that increasing your MPG can be achieved if you fill up your gas tank when you are half empty or half full and the reason for this was that you would lose less gas to evaporation somehow. The emptier the gas tank is liklier the gas is to evaporate was the reasoning. Well I just found out a contrary view. Someone else I have discussed this with tells me you are wisest to only refuel when your meter reads on empty, since the gas weighs a lot. So you have a factor of evaporation versus the actual weight of having gas in your tank. And my opinion based on this is to not worry about it and I make that same suggestion to you! The meager savings do not justify the time, energy or attention. So don’t. BETTER SUGGESTION End your addiction to pumping putrid gas into your automobile completely. If you do a complete conversion to a hydrogen system (hydrogen (H2) generated from water (H2O) you will be emancipated and never have to pay for another gallon of gas again. Only Bush thinks that a hydrogen car engine is something science fiction not something that we have available today. Or perhaps he is aware that a hydrogen car engine is available today but would prefer that we don’t know about it. That is more likely. The technology exists, It is totally affordable, It is simple to learn and you can do the conversion yourself. If you are not quite so bold, you can do an easier conversion to a hybrid gas/hydrogen engine and increase your MPG by as much as 30% or more and have a cleaner running car at the same time that you are saving money. That recommendation to gas prices cannot be debunked. Thousands of people every month are performing the conversion and joining the revolution!
