Aerobic Workouts the Modern Way

Aerobic exercise first became popular in the 1980s. Gyms were packed with people wearing spandex and legwarmers, chanting "No pain, no gain". The legwarmers may have gone out of fashion, but the aerobic workout remains a popular choice for having fun and staying fit.

Of course, there are those that would like to avoid both the gain, and the pain. Many people avoid aerobic exercise because they can't stick to a consistent routine, don't have the time to workout, or simply don't see the benefit in working so hard for seemingly minimal results.

It's easy to stay on course if you do see some results, and people fail to lose weight for different reasons. Some work out religiously, but eat the wrong types of foods. Others fail to be consistent in the time they workout, or in the exercises that they choose.

Aerobics has a great emphasis on the consistency and the rhythm including the time given for it. There is a minimum and maximum time recommended for every type of aerobics. Knowing these times gives you a greater chance on better results.

In addition, torturing yourself with hard work isn't too much help either. Aerobics is not just about the treadmill or the gym or the running and jogging, there are a lot of ways you can circulate that oxygen intake in a technique that's more enjoyable than exhausting.

Aerobic exercise has been popular for decades, and often used in the various methods of dance, rhythmic exercise, swimming, yoga, tai chi, aerobic boxing and many more. There is a great deal of research and information about the benefits of aerobic exercise available in physical fitness magazines and bookstores, as well as on the Internet.

The best part of it a great aerobic workout is not only that it will help you to achieve results, but it's also a lot of fun. When you're enjoying yourself and having fun, it's so much easier to fully commit to your regime. After you've made the commitment, the consistency and results will naturally follow.

To be really sure about the right type of aerobics that would be most beneficial, it is recommended that you consult a physician. There are three types of simple classes that determine what impact benefits you most. The types consist of step, high, and low.

Step aerobics, as the name implies, is based upon a one-two step concept. You perform these exercises using a bench step, a sturdy block, or anything that you can step upon in a constant rhythm. High energy aerobics involves more movement, such as jumping and bouncing, and are similar to dance-style aerobics. Those who perform lower level aerobics, on the other hand, are focused more with keeping one foot on the ground. There is less jumping and bouncing. Of course, each of these classes will produce different results. Again, speak with your doctor to decide which level is best for you.

Whichever type of aerobic workout you choose, the main goal is to stay fit. Step aerobics are easy to do and a great choice if you don't have time for more involved sports or exercises. It doesn't involve any heavy gear or equipment. All you need is a sturdy platform and the commitment to set aside time every day.

Other ideas to think about as well are doing the exercises with your family or friends. When there's someone to exercise with, the activity won't be so boring and you get to help them keep in shape and healthy too.
