By: Anthony Fontanelle

The Chicago Auto Show is one of the most sought after auto shows in the industry and right now, car manufacturers are flocking to the venue. Auto aficionados are also making their way to the auto show so as to be able to watch out for the freshest vehicles and be the first to witness the newest vehicle models.

Hyundai Motor America took advantage of the Chicago Auto Show so as to be able to send information to the public about the newest version of their Sonata. Hyundai also did go take the step of announcing the new tag price that would come with the 2009 Hyundai Sonata, The Auto Channel reported recently. The car maker also continued to disclose the features that would be coming with the vehicle model which is already available in Hyundai dealers all across the United States.

John Krafcik is the vice president of Hyundai America’s Product Development and Strategic Planning team and he stated, “You'd expect that all of these changes and new content would lead to startling new price points for the Sonata. But that's not Hyundai's business model. With a starting price of just $18,795, including delivery, the 2009 Sonata is very well equipped to compete with the best mid-size sedans on quality, craftsmanship, capability... and of course, value.”

One of the new features that would come with the vehicle is its engine. It now comes mounted with a Theta II 2.4 liter DOHC engine that has four inline cylinders. 175 horsepower is the amount of energy that this engine can produce. This second generation engine has the capacity to make the vehicle move at 22 miles per gallon in the city and 32 miles for highway travails. The engine is also mounted to two transmissions - a five speed manual and a five speed automatic with Shiftronic.

The 2009 Hyundai Sonata GLS model with a 2.4 liter I4 engine that is mated to a five speed manual transmission comes with a manufacturer’s standard retail price of $18,795. The SE version with the same engine and transmission has a price tag of $21,195. $24,645 would be the amount you would have to shell out for the Sonata Limited with the same engine and transmission. All these MSRPs includes the freight charge and all these vehicle units can be mated with a KYB AGX adjustable shock absorber.
